With a 25-8 record, the University of Tennessee captured a #6 seed in the Midwest region of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament aka “The Big Dance.” The Vols open the tournament on Thursday, March 18, against #11 San Diego St.

According to a scouting report by The Sports Xchange

The Vols had to remake themselves with the midseason dismissal of Tyler Smith, but they have emerged as a team that is more patient offensively and just as effective defensively. G Scotty Hopson hasn’t really been on his game recently but is a 33.3 percent shooter from three-point range on the season. Hopson and F Wayne Chism averaged 12.5 ppg each. G J.P. Prince is averaging only 9.5 ppg for the season but has averaged 13.7 ppg over his last six games. The Vols are shooting only 66.9 percent from the free throw line, however, though G Bobb Maze (82.1 percent) and Chism (75.0) aren’t the ones to foul in the closing minutes.

Also, congratulations goes out to Vanderbilt University for capturing the #4 seed in the West region of the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Vanderbilt finished the regular season with a 24-8 record and a #20 overall AP ranking. They play their first tournament game against #13 Murray State this Thursday, March 18.
